The Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska

The Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska operates a reentry and recovery program for Native and/or American Indian individuals in Alaska. The department works closely with the Tribal Court and other tribal justice system partners to ensure cohesion in program development and restorative justice practices. To be considered for services individuals must be enrolled with a federally recognized tribe, or show proof of Certificate of Indian Blood. Their reentry and recovery program was established in June 2019 to maintain community and tribal resources for recovery and justice-involved individuals that need a sober and supportive non-congregate sheltering while they transition back into their communities. Alongside temporary housing, they provide a case management that is a cultural and peer-supported experience, as well as employment and training opportunities. These services are only provided to individuals being released home into the Juneau area within six months. The currency operate three reintegration projects: Alaway Avenue Project for Men, Allen Court Project for Men, and Haven House for Women.
