The Gathering for Justice

The Gathering For Justice provides a safe environment for dialogue between generations of activists, community members, formerly incarcerated individuals, and academics from all communities and cultures. Founded in 2005, The Gathering for Justice aims to build a movement to end child incarceration while working to eliminate the racial inequities that permeate the justice system. Following a set of guiding principals, The Gathering utilizes nonviolence as a social application for change and civic engagement. This non-violent approach is strength-based in achieving justice. The Gathering for Justice believes in a collaborative, transformative collective to grow in community, dignity and justice. This unique organization provides direct services, and engages artists and cultural leaders as foot soldiers in grassroots mobilization. They also consult and advise on legislative and policy initiatives while organizing in local and national communities. The Gathering for Justice receives support from The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, the youth divisions of Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the NAACP, and the Congress on Racial Equality.
