The Life House
The Life House is a nonprofit organization that provides housing, education, addiction recovery and employment assistance to justice-impacted people. They have two residential facilities for men and two for women in Alabama and Louisiana. The Life House offers a 12-month program that consists of four semesters focusing on spiritual growth, work ethics and job training, community outreach and service hours. Food, shelter, transportation and assistance with supportive services and education and career goals are provided. The Ruth House is tailored for women 18 and over. They offer a 12-month program for women that consist of housing, supportive services, character training, life skills development and mentorship. Participants in their program will be assisted with their legal and court issues while attending the Life House. The Life House has developed a relationship with probation departments and will work with the legal system on your behalf. Additionally, they write letters to courts; probation/parole departments; and attorney offices on your behalf, make calls to your attorneys, etc., to inform them of your attendance in the program and provide regular updates and progress/urinalysis reports on your behalf. In some cases, the staff would transport you to your court hearings, probation/parole appointments. This must be discussed and approved before entering their program. Due to community restrictions, Life House does not accept those who have a sex offense conviction into its residential program.
