Union Gospel Mission Portland is a faith-based program committed to assisting homeless and disenfranchised individuals. The organization distributes more than 194,000 meals every year to people experiencing homeless and those in need. In addition to meals, Union Gospel Mission offers: food boxes, a day room with coffee and snacks, clothing, hygiene items, referral services and cold weather shelter to individuals experiencing homelessness. The organization also maintains the LifeChange program, a faith-centered recovery community. Their mission is is to transform lives and disrupt the cycle of addiction, as well as to end the destructive life patterns associated with substance abuse. Currently, Union Gospel Mission endeavors to offer support that is informed by the unique struggles that each barrier faces. LifeChange for women and their children focuses on supporting individuals with parenting responsibilities, while LifeChange for men is a recovery program that targets the unique barriers that men with substance abuse issues face.
