Vermilion County, IL Public Defender’s Office
Description
The Vermilion County Public Defender's Office is located in Danville, Illinois. The office only represents indigent persons when appointed by the court. With one Public Defender and other supporting staff, the office provides legal services for indigent persons in Vermilion County. When appointed by the court, their lawyers and staff zealously represent persons in criminal, traffic, juvenile, abuse/neglect, and other matters. They are dedicated to the pursuit of liberty and justice for all. The court appoints the Public Defender's Office, but the Public Defender assigns cases to particular lawyers. As a result, lawyers are assigned to particular caseloads, and courtrooms and clients do not get to choose which attorney will represent them. Public Defenders have an ethical responsibility to work for the best possible resolution of the case for the client. All dealings between a court-appointed attorney and the client are confidential. Attorneys who provide public defense representation are not only subject to the Illinois State Bar's ethical requirements that govern all lawyers but must also meet qualification standards that have been established for public defense representation. Kindly contact the Vermilion County Public Defender's Office if you require any further information.
