Volunteer Lawyers Network
Description
The Volunteer Lawyers Network is an expansive collaborative committed to pairing individuals with qualified attorneys. Volunteer Lawyers Network staff connect individuals experiencing financial insecurity with trained lawyers offering pro bono services. These attorneys offer legal advice, brief services and occasionally representation in court. The first step in the process is participating in an intake interview through the helpline at 612-752-6677. During this call, an intake advisor will ask individuals screening questions related to their case, as well as information about income and where the individual lives to determine whether or not Volunteer Lawyers Network attorneys are able to assist with the legal matter. If the organization cannot offer assistance, intake counselors may sometimes offer referrals to attorneys in the immediate area. Attorneys with the organization are only able to offer assistance to individuals facing civil court matters. They are not able to provide advice or representation to individuals facing pending criminal charges or those seeking appeal.
