Description

Volunteers of America Upstate New York (VOA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting people in the local community to rise out of poverty, achieve self sufficiency, and reach their full potential. VOA works to break the cycle of poverty by implementing various initiatives such as childcare and early childhood development programs, homelessness prevention services, and others. Volunteers of America's programs and services promote positive development and independence by providing individuals with the direction and resources needed to effect positive change in their lives. In addition, they offer long term solutions to issues such as homelessness, poverty, addiction, illiteracy, and criminal behavior. Their Residential Reentry Center and community based residential programs assist adults in transitioning from incarceration to a new beginning. Housing, specialized case management, employment aid, and life skills training are among the services they offer to help people establish productive, self sufficient lives.
