Western District of Washington Reentry Programs

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington offers government run reentry programs to assist individuals as they return to productive lives after incarceration. Accordingly, the USAO offers a number of reentry programs designed to help in different areas of the reintegration process. Their Drug Reentry Alternative Model (DREAM) is a pre-adjudicative diversion drug court, providing an intensive form of presentence supervision with direct, regular judicial involvement. For certain defendants who meet the eligibility criteria and are accepted into DREAM court, the program lasts between 12 months and 24 months. Upon successful completion, the underlying charges are dismissed. Next, their Warrants Initiative is a program to address outstanding warrants before a person in federal custody is set to release back into the community. In addition, the United States Probation Office’s Evidence-Based Practices Executive Committee is focused on determining which prevention and reentry programs used by the probation office are based on evidence-based practices and looking for new and effective programs.
