Wings for Kids is a community based organization serving young people in the greater Charleston, South Carolina area. Their mission is to assist children and young adults who are at risk of entering the justice system and to provide the necessary supports to ensure that young people have the best chance at long term success. Staff and volunteers work hard to make sure that children remain in school and work toward lifestyles that will promote self-sufficient living. Currently, Wings for Kids operates programs at eleven community schools and serves children who attend after school programs. They also train and support educators and child care providers, as well as assist partner organizations in the community that have a shared interest in empowering young people to be the leaders of tomorrow. Wings for Kids centers social emotional learning in their programs to help participants realize their potential and develop healthy mindsets.
