Insight Prison Project

Insight Prison Project operates programs for all individuals across 21 state prisons, three county jails, reentry facilities and a juvenile institution. Their primary program spans 18 months and includes coursework developed by mental health experts and survivors of violent crimes. IPP forms spaces that encourage survivors and incarcerated individuals opportunities to reach collective healing and reduce recidivism. They also manage a violence prevention program for incarcerated individuals that includes conflict resolution workshops and crisis response training. Participants are eligible for pre-parole training to prepare them for a successful reentry into the community. The San Quentin Artistic Ensemble offers a space for participants to engage in artistic expression and explore healing through creative work. Acting with Compassion and Truth encourages incarcerated individuals to investigate feelings around gender identity and sexual orientation through a lens of empathy and understanding.
