Office of the Colorado State Public Defender’s Salida Office

The Office of the Colorado State Public Defender's Salida Office is a branch office located in Salida, Colorado. With one state public defender, one first assistant state public defender, two chief deputy public defenders and two chief trial deputies, the Salida office serves the Chaffee, Custer, Fremont and Park counties. The mission of the Public Defender's Salida Office is to defend and protect the rights, liberties, and dignity of those accused of crimes who cannot afford to retain counsel. The State Public Defender office has 21 regional trial offices, a centralized appellate office that handles appeals from every jurisdiction in the state, as well as a centralized state administrative office. They also offer free Collateral Relief Legal Clinics, funded by the Colorado Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program and the Denver Foundation. The clinics provide legal assistance to former offenders who need relief from the negative impacts of a criminal arrest or conviction.
