The Wyoming County Public Defender has an office in Warsaw, NY, responsible for providing legal representation to individuals who cannot afford to retain legal counsel in the criminal courts and Family courts in Wyoming County. It also provides representation at the appellate level for criminal and Family Court cases. In Family Court, the Wyoming County Public Defender’s Office represents individuals involved in custody, visitation, abuse/neglect and support violation matters in Family Court and Support Court. To qualify for services, clients must fill out financial affidavits, which will be reviewed by Public Defender staff based on federal and state guidelines. This office includes a Public Defender, Staff Attorneys, Investigators and other clerical support staff that undertakes financial eligibility intake interviews and file and case information management. The Investigators work closely with the attorney assigned to represent any individual and further enable the office in its mission to provide high-quality mandated representation. Their investigator also conducts intake interviews at the Wyoming County Jail and assesses collateral client problems and needs such as substance abuse, physical or mental health needs, housing problems, etc. For further assistance, you should first contact the Wyoming County Public Defender.
