Stanford Law School’s Ride Home Program

The Ride Home Program provides support and services for individuals returning to the community after incarceration. The organization was initially founded in partnership with the Three Strikes Project and the Anti-Recidivism Coalition with a goal of offering immediate, intensive and personalized reentry support to formerly incarcerated individuals. They work primarily with individuals released from prison as a result of reforms to California's sentencing laws, as well as those granted clemency by the President. Ride Home Program prioritizes personal, intensive and urgent services that begin before individuals exit the corrections system. They hope to intervene with individuals in the hours and days immediately after release, as this is the period during which individuals are most at risk of recidivism. Experienced counselors in the program help participants make permanent life changes and address the challenges that put them on the path to incarceration.
