Siddha Yoga Prison Project
Description
Siddha Yoga Prison Project brings the traditional teachings of Siddha Yoga to incarcerated individuals as a source of healing and wellness. The Prison Project makes Siddha Yoga practices available to individuals in correctional facilities across the globe. Currently, the program boasts thousands of participants across more than 1500 correctional facilities in the United States. Participants in the program receive home study materials and conduct a portion of their learning and practice individually. However, Siddha Yogis do visit certain correctional facilities and host satangs inside prisons. The Prison Project encourages community members to get involved with the program by training in Siddha Yoga and volunteering to lead satangs in their local facilities. The hope of the organization is that continual practice in Siddha Yoga will bring incarcerated individuals a sense of belonging, as well as a deep commitment to personal growth and healing.
