The Cottages of Hope is a community-based organization striving to help individuals and families achieve financial stability. They help adults living in the Ogden and Weber area who are living near or below the poverty line, have been referred to them and are motivated to make meaningful life changes. Cottages of Hope offers free-of-charge services, including small group financial, employment, and housing workshops, individualized coaching in financial stability, workforce development, expungement services for the formerly incarcerated, and IRS-certified tax preparation through the national Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. In addition, Cottages of Hope is focused on empowering its patrons to obtain and retain a livable wage, reducing and maintaining a debt-to-income ratio of under 40 percent, achieving and maintaining a credit score of 650 points or more, and saving three-six months in emergency savings.
