Roger Williams University Criminal Defense Clinic
Description
Roger Williams University Criminal Defense Clinic provides legal advice and representation for indigent clients with ongoing legal issues. The program provides law students an important opportunity to experience the actual practice of law, serving real defendants in ongoing criminal cases under the direct guidance of a full time member of the School of Law’s tenured faculty. Law students personally facilitate all stages of criminal litigation in the Criminal Defense Clinic. The process begins with interviewing potential clients and a thorough investigation of the case. Students actively counsel the client, negotiate with prosecuting lawyers, and ultimately, if the case makes it to court, try the case. Some clinic students may also be tasked with supporting appellate and post-conviction cases as necessary. Potential clients should coordinate with the Roger Williams University Criminal Defense Clinic directly to schedule an interview and discuss their eligibility for services. More information about representation can be found on their website.
