Nashville OIC
Description
Nashville Opportunities Industrialization Center, or OIC, is an educational institution that provides education and job training to needy people in the community. The mission of Nashville OIC is to provide education, training, counseling and job placement services for citizens of the community who are disadvantaged economically, educationally, and socially. They offer classes to everyone over the age of 17. Students who are 17 years old must obtain a school release. There is no waiting list, and all classes and tests are free for students. Additionally, the center provides monthly fatherhood training recognized by the court system for men in the Nashville area. Their Free Hearts is a weekly program designed for formerly incarcerated mothers and their families. It provides education, workforce development, support, advocacy, free legal advice in collaboration with the Public Defender’s Office and parenting classes recognized by the court system. IOC offers various other programs for the marginalized people of society. Contact the organization directly to learn specific details about each of their programs.
