Miles of Freedom
Description
Miles of Freedom (MOF) is a community based organization that provides services to help the formerly incarcerated transition from prison to a productive life in the community. Their mission is to equip, empower, and employ individuals returning home from prison and to provide support and assistance for families and communities impacted by incarceration. To help accomplish this goal, MOF's Reentry Assistance Program provides training in financial literacy, resume building, interview training, dress, and life skills. After completion of the workshop, they assist with employment search and placement through existing employment opportunities or other business partners. For instance, MOF's Second Chance Lawn and Landscaping Service provides job training opportunities to second-chance citizens. Participants add those job skills to their resume, which builds self-esteem and reduces the likelihood of recidivism. In addition, MOF operates a shuttle from Dallas, Texas, to the prison at Tennessee Colony for family members and friends of incarcerated individuals. Moreover, MOF's Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Food Pantry serves the residents of Southern Dallas surrounding the community center, providing them with fresh fruits and vegetables. Contact Miles of Freedom directly to learn more about their reentry services.
