Federal Public Defender for the District of Maryland’s Southern Division Office

The Federal Public Defender for the District of Maryland's Southern Division Office is located in Greenbelt and represents individuals facing federal criminal charges who cannot afford to retain private counsel. With one branch chief, one senior litigation counsel, one appellate chief, and 10 panel attorneys, the Federal public defenders for the District of Maryland's Southern Division Office specializes in misdemeanor and felony cases involving all types of federal offenses. The court appoints this office to represent clients at all phases of the federal criminal process, including prior to the indictment when the client has reason to believe that he or she is the target of a federal criminal investigation but has not yet been indicted.
