The Tallapoosa Judicial District Public Defender serves indigent individuals across all of Polk and Haralson counties. The Tallapoosa Judicial District Public Defender has a Polk County office, which is located in Cedartown, Georgia. Together with a team of investigators and specialists, one Chief Assistant Public Defender and one Assistant Public Defender provide quality defense to clients who cannot afford to obtain private defense services. Clients must request a public defender through the court in order to receive services through the Tallapoosa Judicial District Public Defender's office. Once appointed, public defenders ensure that all clients receive the necessary services guaranteed by their 6th Amendment rights. These services include representation and legal counsel for misdemeanors, felonies, capital charges and some family court issues.
