The Rush County Public Defender's Office is located in Rushville, Indiana. With one Public Defender Board Chairman, one Chief Public Defender, and supporting staff the Public Defender Office provides quality legal representation to indigent clients in Rush County. Additionally, the Office of the Public Defender represents some persons in Child in Need of Services cases, Juvenile cases, and Child Support cases. The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay and the right to a lawyer. The services provided by the Public Defender's office include providing legal representation, consultation, representing clients in criminal investigative proceedings, creating a defense plan, conducting investigative legal research, interviewing the necessary clients and witnesses, working closely with clients, and discussing relevant information and strategies for their cases.
