Description
The Steuben County Public Defender's Office is located in Bath, NY. This office is dedicated to providing high-quality legal representation to individuals that are financially unable to retain an attorney without substantial hardship in the Steuben County Criminal and Family Courts. One Senior Assistant Public Defender and eight Staff Attorneys serve at the Criminal Courts in Steuben County. The Assistant Defenders represent qualified individuals charged with misdemeanor and felony cases in all Town, Village, City and County Courts within Steuben County. In addition, there is one Senior Assistant Public Defender and two staff attorneys representing qualified individuals in Custody, Visitation, Paternity, Family Offense, Abuse, Neglect and select Violation of Court Orders proceedings in the Family Courts. Applications for the services of an assigned attorney are available at the first Court appearance. All applicants must bring the Affidavit of Financial Status to the Public Defender's Office.
