Description
The Minot Office of North Dakota Commission on Legal Counsel for Indigents provides indigent defense services in matters where a person has a constitutional, statutory, or rule-based right to counsel if the person is "indigent." Their mission is to provide high-quality, professional, and effective legal representation to eligible clients, consistent with the guarantees of the United States and North Dakota constitutions and applicable North Dakota statutes and rules, at reasonable cost to the community. With one Supervising Attorney and two Staff Attorneys, the Minot office serves defendants charged with a felony in District Court, Class A or Class B Misdemeanor in District Court except where there is no possibility of imprisonment, including a suspended sentence of imprisonment or a deferred imposition of sentence, juvenile delinquency matter; all proceedings in a child in need of services or protection; or permanency or review of an order, a parent in a termination of parental rights proceeding, the child or parent in a guardianship proceeding and more.
