Oklahoma Indigent Defense System, Non-Capital Trial Division’s Enid office

Description

The Oklahoma Indigent Defense System's Non-Capital Trial Division has a branch office located in Enid, OK. The Enid office provides legal services for appointments in Alfalfa, Blaine, Garfield, Grant, and Kingfishers counties. With one Deputy Division Chief and other legal staff, this office provides representation to agency clients who cannot afford counsel to defend against charges brought by the State. The Public Defenders undertake felony, misdemeanor and traffic cases punishable by incarceration. The purpose of the Trial Program is to fulfill the state's obligations that accompany the right to represent a defense against criminal charges, including requirements imposed by the Federal Constitution. District court judges determine whether a defendant is indigent by applying standards developed by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals. In addition, the defendant fills out a form about their assets, liabilities, and sources of income. If the judge determines the defendant is indigent, OIDS is appointed. If the court has assigned a public defender to your case in Alfalfa, Blaine, Garfield, Grant, and Kingfishers counties, please contact the Enid Non-Capital Trial Division at the OIDS using the contact information listed here.
