Georgetown County, SC Public Defender’s Office

The Fifteenth Judicial Circuit is comprised of Georgetown and Horry counties. The Circuit Public Defender manages the Georgetown County Public Defender's Office for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit along with one Assistant Public Defender and three Attorneys. Altogether, this office represents defendants in criminal court who are financially indigent. Every person has the right to a fair trial. It is the law of our country that competent representation by an attorney is necessary to preserve this fundamental right. State and federal law provides that all persons have the constitutional right to be represented by an attorney if they have been accused of a crime and the punishment for that crime could be a time in jail or prison. To qualify for an appointed attorney, you must first go through a screening process where you complete a financial affidavit. If you are eligible, an attorney will be appointed to represent you.
