Marion County, TN Public Defender’s Office

The Marion County Public Defender's Office is located in Jasper, TN. With Public Defenders and other legal support staff, this Public Defender's office represents indigent clients in Marion County, 12th Judicial Circuit Court. An individual must apply for a public defender by completing a detailed financial statement and agreeing to provide documentation concerning income, assets, and debts for the person and the person’s spouse if any. This information generally is provided to a court employee who reviews the financial information and makes a recommendation to the judge on whether or not the person is eligible for government-paid counsel. Public Defenders have an ethical responsibility to work for the best possible resolution of the case for the client. All dealings between a court-appointed attorney and the client are confidential.
