The Fairfax County Public Defender's Office has a team of Public Defenders, Staff Attorneys and other support staff dedicated to providing criminal defense services to indigent criminal defendants in Fairfax County. Their mission is to protect and defend the rights and dignity of their clients through zealous, compassionate, high-quality legal advocacy. The Public Defender handles all types of cases from misdemeanors to felony rape and murder and all trial and appellate cases from State courts, General District, Juvenile and Circuit Courts. The roles and responsibilities of the Fairfax County Public Defender's Office are to provide legal representation, consultation, and advice to clients, represent clients through criminal investigative proceedings, create a defense plan, conduct legal investigative research, and interview the necessary clients and witnesses, work closely with clients, discuss relevant information and strategies.
