Description

The Community Legal Aid Society provides legal services to justice-involved individuals who cannot afford representation on their own. Their mission is to respond to barriers in quality legal representation through direct advocacy for underserved communities involved in civil litigation. The organization maintains several programs which assist individuals facing common barriers to equity and self-sufficient living. The Fair Housing Program addresses federal mandates for fair housing and staff provide assistance to individuals who believe that their rights under the Fair Housing Act have been violated. The Poverty Law program provides support and services to low-income individuals facing eviction, as well as those who require assistance obtaining government documentation and enrolling in government programs, individuals facing domestic violence issues and immigrants who are victims of criminal or domestic crimes. It is important to note that Community Legal Aid Society does not involve itself with criminal matters, the execution of wills, traffic cases or accusations of malpractice.
