With nine attorneys on staff, the Spokane office is a community defender program that represents individuals charged with federal crimes in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. They have two offices: the main office is in Spokane; the branch office is in Yakima. They are independent from the local federal judiciary and funded by a sustaining grant of approximately $9 million awarded by Congress under the Criminal Justice Act.
